Good to know

Escape the city and unwind at The Stonemason, a historic 1701 Dutch colonial set on 7 acres in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Just 1h45m from NYC and minutes from Kingston, Rosendale, and Stone Ridge, this beautifully restored stone home blends old-world charm with modern comforts. Inside, you’ll find original chestnut beams, hickory floors, and a cozy wood-burning fireplace alongside a chef’s kitchen, sunroom dining for 10–12, and four unique bedrooms (two with ensuite baths). Enjoy panoramic views from the rooftop terrace, curl up in the TV room, or gather on the bluestone patio for games and grilling. Outdoors, wander rolling lawns, relax by the heated saltwater pool (seasonal, shared), or explore nearby rail trails, orchards, wineries, and farm-to-table dining. In winter, skiing at Hunter and Belleayre is just 40 minutes away. Whether you’re here for a family getaway, wedding weekend, or cozy Catskills retreat, The Stonemason offers history, style, and comfort in every season. The design/build team on this project have been heavily involved in the building of many venerable NYC restaurants including Balthazar, Pastis and the Wythe hotel. There was a lot of attention paid to the detailing of the space. The home is close to carbon neutral and was renovated incorporating passive house techniques, geothermal ground sourced heating and cooling as well as a full PV array in a distant corner of the back yard. As you drive up the pathway, you'll find yourself immersed in a serene, pastoral setting spread across 7 acres of rolling lawns and forest. Stroll up the softly illuminated stone path to the historic stone house, which boasts a mid-century modern glass addition at the back. On the ground floor, you'll discover a fully-equipped, eat-in kitchen featuring stunning raspberry-swirled marble countertops, shaker cabinets, and a Bertazzoni oven—a chef’s dream for crafting delicious meals for family and friends. The adjacent sunroom, with its original stone walls and Italianate checkerboard floors, provides the perfect backdrop for entertaining, with a table that seats 10-12 people and floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the forest and expansive grounds. After your meal, cozy up with a good book or great company in the living room around the wood-burning fireplace, the true heart of the home. Off the dining room, there's a separate TV room where kids can enjoy movies or games in their own space. After a long day, retreat to one of the four inviting bedrooms. The downstairs guest room, adorned with elements of Art Nouveau design, boasts an ensuite bathroom complete with a clawfoot soaking tub and a rainhead shower—perfect for unwinding after a day of hiking or skiing. Upstairs, discover three additional bedrooms, each exuding its own unique charm. The romantic rose-colored room offers an intimate, cozy escape, while the quirky, folk art-inspired green room adds a touch of whimsy. The main bedroom, brimming with Moroccan inspiration and antique art, features an ensuite bathroom and opens onto a sprawling rooftop terrace with breathtaking panoramic views of the property below. Back downstairs, step out from the dining room through large glass doors onto the bluestone slate patio. Here, you can enjoy a game of boules or cornhole, or fire up the propane grill for an outdoor feast. For those who prefer relaxation, wander down the lawn to the heated, salt-water pool, open from May to September, weather permitting. The pool is shared with the cottage space down the hill, part of the same property. Please enquire about pool availability towards the beginning and the end of the season. The property is powered by an impressive array of solar panels, ensuring it remains off-the-grid with a zero carbon footprint. The area offers miles of rail trail hiking and biking, top-class farm-to-table restaurants, charming shops, boutiques, orchards, and wine bars. If you’re lucky, a snowfall during your stay at The Stonemason will make it magical. We are also located roughly 40 minutes from popular ski resorts including Belleayre and Hunter Mountain.

Other Details to Note

We have well water which is safe to drink. The water is filtered in 3 stages, treated for sulphur smell and softened, but it WILL taste different to municipal water. We have the system maintained and tested every three months.

We really enjoyed our stay at Jasmine‘s place. We were lucky to be there when it snowed and felt like we were living in a snow globe. The kitchen was perfect for cooking meals. The beds were very comfortable and having 4 bathrooms was perfect for our group of two families. We hope to return again very soon.

Perfect country getaway. Every corner of the house looks like a magazine ad, the pool was warm and relaxing, and the location is close to gorgeous hiking and biking. We loved the quick drive into downtown Kingston to visit great restaurants and the weekend farmers market. We hope to come back!

We had an incredible 2 week stay. The home is quite charming and Jasmine and her team were incredibly helpful with local recommendations, as well as addressing any other requests. The home is perfectly located. Close to so many great farms for the kids to visit. Close to Kingston, for restaurants and shopping. But also feels like you're alone in the country. Best of all worlds! We had a great time.

We had a fabulous stay at Jasmines place. The home and the property are beautiful and had everything we needed for a great stay. The home is beautifully decorated and clean - the photos don’t do it justice! We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen which was stocked with more than just the essentials. The host was quick to respond to any needs or questions and instructions and details were very thorough. We would happily stay again!
